PromptShelf Privacy Policy

PromptShelf is a local-first Chrome / Edge extension. It stores your prompt library only in your browser’s local storage (chrome.storage.local).

Data we collect

We do not collect, transmit, sell, or monetize personal data. There is no account system, no analytics SDK, and no remote server operated by PromptShelf for prompt storage.

Data stored locally

• Prompt titles, bodies, categories, tags, and usage timestamps you create
• Preference settings (e.g. sort order)

Permissions

• storage — save prompts and settings on device
• contextMenus — save selected text / insert last prompt
• activeTab + scripting — insert a prompt into the active page’s text field when you click Insert
• host permissions (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot) — optional convenience for inserting into those sites; PromptShelf does not read your chat history

Exports

If you export a JSON backup, that file is created by you on your device. You control where it goes.
